Oman opens first waterpark to attract worldwide tourists
Oman's Muriya Tourism Development Company will open the country's first waterpark in December this year.
Muriya Tourism Development, a joint venture between the state-owned Oman Tourism Development Company and Egypt's Orascom Development Holding, developed Hawana Aqua Park in Salalah.
The waterpark, which is part of Hawana Salalah resort, can accommodate 500 people per day, said a company release.
The wealth of attractions being constructed at the Hawana Aqua Park include water slides, leisure pools for guests to unwind, a toddlers' pool, pool-front cabins, swimming pools, wave pools and a main tower.
With a total land area exceeding 65,000 square meters, the development will feature a dedicated food court, a retail shopping area, and a large parking area for guests, added the company statement.
The aqua park is a dynamic addition to the entertainment facilities of Hawana Salalah's tourism project.
"The Hawana Aqua Park joins a variety of attractions developed following extensive research to identify touristic attractions that help solidify Salalah's position as a fast growing prime touristic destination," said Ahmed Dabbous, chief executive officer of Muriya Tourism Develoment.
With more than 900 hotel rooms, Hawana Salalah is home to Salalah Rotana Resort, Fanar Hotel & Residences, Juweira Boutique Hotel and the exclusive beachfront Souly Lodge.
Oman has been investing heavily in hotels and resorts to attract tourists from across the world.
