AC Milan appoints Gattuso as head coach
ROME - AC Milan former player Gennaro Gattuso has been appointed head coach of the Italian Serie A side.
The club said Monday that Gattuso replaced former coach Vincenzo Montella who left following a 0-0 home draw with Torino.
Now Milan collected 20 points from 14 games and stands in seventh in the 20-team standings.
Montella's successor Gattuso was the coach of the club's youth team before the appointment. The 39-year-old played at Milan from 1999 to 2012, winning two Serie A titles and two Champions League trophies during his playing career.
Besides Montella, Milan had sacked six head coaches. Half of them are former Milan players, concluding Clarence Seedorf, Filippo Inzaghi and Cristian Brocchi.
