An English language novel written by a Chinese high school student has been recently published by the Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press, reports Beijing Youth Daily.
Yang Nianhui, a freshman at the high school affiliated with Renmin University of China and a fan of English novels, began writing The Vampires of Lorania series when she was in grade five at primary school. It took her five years to write and edit the first book in the series.
The Vampires of Lorania tells the story of Lorania, a kingdom of vampires, and expresses a young person's understanding that a real hero will do what he believe is right without hesitation despite any fears.
The book is around 60,000 words long and has 201 pages. Yang is now working on the second book in the series.
This is the first time the Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press has independently published a high school student's work since its establishment in 1979.
