As the late couturier Alexander McQueen once said, "There is no better designer than nature." Not only is nature a perfect source of inspiration, it's also great for embracing the place we live. Today, instead of travelling to a cosy Swiss wooden chalet, you can cultivate your own heaven at home – starting with some organic wood furniture.

Planting its roots in Hong Kong in 2005, local furnishings brand Tree provides a total home styling solution using eco-materials from recycled teak to sustainably sourced walnut and oak, for urban dwellers who prefer a minimalistic, understated design. A furniture business built on the consumption of wood, the company has planted more than 70,000 new trees and counting through a partnership with Indonesian reforestation foundation Trees4Trees.

Tree's back-to-basics principle mixes style and practicality – take the woven Joe chair, which features FSC-certified kraft paper and uses the traditional Lloyd loom style – a weaving process invented in 1917 in which the kraft paper is twisted around metal wire for durability.

For artistic accents, the brand's smaller objects can inject colour and creativity into any space. Enter the paint-dipped lamp and the petrified wood bookend; the former is hand-dipped in vibrant hues, while the latter is the product of a fossilising process and features a polished surface over the organic, raw edges of wooden slabs.

A study room or home office should be able to enable its inhabitants to focus on productivity and the task at hand, which is why it's important to create an environment of comfort. Tree’s products are aimed at this demographic, so the brand also provides project styling services for residential and commercial properties.

Maintaining your Tree house is quite simple – just clean the pieces with a damp cloth, rather than the usual furniture cleaners or wax. Live in the place you love, and you'll love the place you live.
