Chinese children's book on Mao published in Dutch language
"Laten Wij Over Mao Zedong Lezen" ("Let's Read About Mao Zedong"), the Dutch-language version of a Chinese children's book was launched Monday in The Hague.
The book is one of the most important titles of the year 2017 that were specially selected for the Dutch-language market, said Lenard Wolters, founder and CEO of Leonon Media, a Dutch publishing house.
"Mao's thoughts and ways of practice have deeply influenced and shaped China as it is now. Without understanding Mao Zedong, it will be very hard to truly understand the present China," explained Wolters.
"I hope this book will provide an opportunity and new point of view for the European readers, to understand China's great man Mao Zedong, his ideals, his pursuits, and his wisdom.
" Anne Marie Westra-Nijhuis, the Dutch translator of the book, said: "There's nothing more rewarding than to be able to communicate in another language and to understand and learn from other people from different cultures."
The book has sold over 100,000 copies since its publication a year ago in China.
