Photography captures China's Central Plain culture
People watch a Yu Opera performance, which was a popular entertainment. The source of opera is in the Central Plain. Even today, during farming's slow season, people can see star-studded stages in the rural areas of Henan province. In fact, except for TV, there is no entertainment in rural areas that is more popular than drama. So many performances cannot rely on professional troupe and actors, as they are just too few and too limited. Most of the so-called troupes are native "grassroot troupes". Actors are local farmers. Normally, they are busy with field work and housework in daily life, but after dressing in their costumes, they become the gifted scholars and beautiful ladies, generals and ministers in the opera stories.
