New Spring Festival trends reflect a changing China

Reunion away from home

It's Chinese tradition that people, wherever they are, return to their homeland to celebrate Spring Festival with their family, but this year China saw more people celebrate the traditional holiday away from home.

People who have emigrated out of their hometown and settled down in bigger cities have started inviting their parents to their new home in the city to celebrate together. Or family members traveled from different parts of China or even the world to reunite in a set tourist city to celebrate the Chinese New Year.
