Future energy development and the Belt and Road Initiative will take center stage in China's Pavilion at the Astana Expo 2017 in Kazakhstan later this month.

The two themes will showcase to global visitors the country's advanced technologies in power generation, according to the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade.

"These themes will reflect China's ideas and practical implementations in the field of traditional energy, and the development of renewable energy sources," Wang Jinzhen, vice-chairman of CCPIT, said on Thursday.

Astana Expo organizers have confirmed that 115 countries and 22 international organizations will showcase events in the Kazakh capital from June 10 to Sept 10.

Air China has introduced direct passenger flights between Beijing and Astana to help promote the expo. The flights will leave three times a week on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday.

Up to 42 Chinese students majoring in Russian studies have also been drafted in to work as volunteers at the pavilion.

They were selected from 10 Chinese universities, including Beijing Foreign Studies University and Shanghai International Studies University.

Part of the expo will be the China-Kazakhstan energy cooperation forum and a tourism conference.

They have been organized to promote the Belt and Road Initiative, which aims to build a trade network connecting Asia with Europe and Africa along the ancient routes of the Silk Road.

"This is the first time that China has given such a comprehensive introduction of its advanced technologies and ideas in energy utilization, and sustainable development at an international event," said Wang, who is also deputy head of the China Pavilion's organizing committee.

China's pavilion will include a simulator of the driver's cabin for a high-speed train and models of clean energy projects.
