Drifting Camera exhibition captures global beauty

Across 24 time zones, 25 photographers captured and shared moments between 6:00 and 7:00 pm (Beijing time) using two cameras — the soul of Drifting Camera project, brought to life in an exhibition in Beijing.

The initiator, Li Chenyang, also known online as LKs, is a seasoned content creator with over five million followers. A passionate photography enthusiast, he set out to capture not just beautiful images, but meaningful human connections through his work.

"I wanted to do more than just photography," Li explained. "I've always been looking for ways to make my videos more creative and emotionally connective." Inspired by the idea of "drifting bottles" and "drifting notebooks", he launched the drifting camera project.

After successfully sending a camera on a national journey across China in 2022, Li expanded the idea globally two years later. Over 400 days and 150,000 kilometers, 25 photographers, randomly recruited from different corners of the world, captured glimpses of life as seen through their eyes.

"One person can't see the whole world," Li said. "But through the lenses of people living there, we can experience places we might never reach—beyond time and space."
