8 dead after hijacked bus rams commuters

Eight people were killed and 22 injured after a man hijacked a bus in East China's Fujian province and rammed the vehicle into a group of pedestrians on Tuesday.
The incident took place in Longyan city at 3 pm. The suspect is a 48-year-old unemployed man surnamed Qiu. The local public security authority said grievances harbored against local grassroots government staff workers over a dispute earlier in the day prompted Qiu to hijack the bus. The case is under further investigation.
A police officer was among the dead, while 22 others were injured, including one seriously.
