TUNIS - A Tunisian official announced Monday that an electric bus made in China was put on the road for a trial period of six months.

"This bus is a product of the Chinese automobile manufacturer BYD, and the vehicle is now in line with European standards in terms of clean energies," said Abdellatif Kallel, Al-Badr Group Executive Director, during a press held in capital Tunis.

Kallel said the bus is totally silent and friendly to the environment since it emits no polluting element.

The bus has a capacity of 90 passengers and, once fully charged, can travel 250 km at an average speed of 70 km per hour.
