Since the 2022 Winter Olympic Games in Beijing are approaching, enrollment trends for skiing majors in some universities have attracted attention.

The Capital University of Physical Education and Sports will enroll 200 more normal students in sports majors this year.

The university will continue to train ambulance personnel, professional personnel in snow and ice event management and news reporters this year, involving majors of journalism, sports competition and management, sports rehabilitation and physical education, according to the dean of the university’s admission office.

Beijing Sport University has successively established an ice and snow sports college, a Winter Olympic Games training college, an ice hockey college and a sports medicine and rehabilitation college in recent years. In order to provide students with diverse professional majors, the university has also carried out all-around training of Winter Olympics talent.

The Chinese Ice Hockey Sports College, jointly organized by Chinese Ice Hockey Association and Beijing Sport University, enrolls 250 students each year. While developing talent for the national team, the college also provides athletes with specific training programs for the entire ice hockey industry chain.

The industry generally believes that through targeted training, talent in ice and snow sports can be promoted, both in number and quality.

Hebei province plans to cultivate 6,000 undergraduates majoring in ice and snow sports by 2022, 10,000 professional graduates with majors related to ice and snow sports and train 50,000 related talents in order to meet the needs of the Beijing Winter Olympic Games.
