As Chinese designers are busy adding elements of their homeland to their products, international designers have also shifted their eyes to Chinese culture.

Cheongsam, or qipao, a traditional Chinese costume, has become one of their inspirations. Many designers loosened the stiff collar of a standard cheongsam to make it look more casual.

The designers also printed characters from Chinese operas and Tai Chi diagrams on their designs. Some also used traditional auspicious patterns that often appear on ancient Chinese costumes, such as carps and ocean waves.
